I'm organizing another collab, this time a music collab, titled Vintage Sounds Collab, where musicians create an old sounding/vintage piece by experimenting with 60 Hz hum, the crackling sound of an old vinyl record, amp noise, and filters that emulate the sound of a gramophone as an example.

Just to be clear this isn't a Lo-fi collab so no Lo-fi hip-hop tracks for this collab, we still want the songs to be of high production quality, but reflect the sound of a bygone era.

Rules:

-       Files must be submitted in WAV 16-bit format

-       Songs should be between 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes and 30 seconds in length

-       Your song should utilize at least 2 or more filters that make the track sound vintage, e.g. 60 HZ hum, sounds like vinyl filter, amp noise, warm saturation, crackle, static, Grungelizer, etc.

-       Your file name should contain your Newgrounds Username, song name, and those who you collaborated with.

-       Avoid using too much compression and making your track overly loud, since this is a vintage sounds collab, we want to create music that predates the loudness wars in sound.

Currently the collab is still early in it's development with only a few participants, and an active thread on the NGAP Collab Centre discord server. You'll also find other collabs that I am currently working on such as the Around the World Music Collab which has a thread for it. And the Battle of the Bands Collab which has it's own channel.

I do want to start up some more collabs as I have more ideas, these include A Voice Comedy Collab: That consists of jokes told in a Stand-up comedy fashion, think Just for Laughs. It'll also have short advert/commercial style voice comedies as an interlude between comedic sets, with a speaker announcing each act.

And a Nature Soundscapes Collab. Where Musicians utilise the sounds of nature as they create ambient tracks, but the twist here is that you must record the nature sounds yourself. Some examples of this can be the sound of birds chirping, waterfalls, rivers, and the wind passing through trees. However this idea hasn't received much attention so I may not go ahead with this idea in the future.

Shout out to any Soul Singers that would like to collaborate with @V-Future who has made a pleasant sounding Jazz track and is looking for a singer for the Vintage Sounds Collab.

I've uploaded Two New Tunes and both of them feature step filters and delay effects to create more of an ambient and modern sound. I thought that I would play around with the different filters and effects that are present within Cubase.

The first one is titled Ode To The Fallen and it's a sombre slow paced tuning at around 80 BPM.

And the second one which was released the day of me writing this blog post is titled Woven Tapestry

Enjoy!

The Spoken Word Poetry Collab has now been completed and published here:

It was a shorter work than what I previously envisioned, with a smaller amount of participants. But the quality of work is what matters and I think everyone did a good job with their submissions, it was quality over quantity for this collaboration.

And seeing as this was the first Collab that I organized, I think I did okay.

Just a quick reminder that there is 1 week left till the deadline for the Spoken Word Poetry Collab on May 1st. So please get those submissions in if you are participating. And I'd like to extend a big thank you to @AhWham for creating this wonderful banner for the collab. If you haven't checked out his work, then I recommend it.

I got featured in the Tank tribune again which is good, the spoken word poetry collab that I am organizing was mentioned, so hopefully more participants will join the collab before the deadline on May 1st.

I'll paste a link to that particular issue below:

Hey Everyone,

I just released a new voice comedy for April Fools Day, and despite it's Mature rating, it is rather immature in nature. I added SFX to this particular one. I'll attach a link to it below

Hey Everyone, I'm organizing a Spoken Word Poetry Collab which you can view the details of in the NGAP Collab Center discord server which I'll post an invite link to here: https://discord.gg/QCmYyraxbk

The overview of the Collab is as follows:

"A Spoken Word Poetry Collab, that includes background music. There are roles for writers, musicians, speakers, singers, and voice actors. You can write and record yourself speaking your poem or hand over the speaking to someone else if you choose so. Musicians can compose an ambient background track that fills the space and sits under the spoken word poems. You can even sing your poem if you so choose."

The theme is "The reality that you want to see and manifest in the world". The word limit is 500 words. And ideally the poem will be SFW as we'd want to try to get it front paged. So far a deadline has not been set yet, as this Collab is in its early stages still with only a few participants so far. We still need Musicians who'd like to create an ambient BGM track that will play through the duration of the Collab. So if ambient music is your forte, then you might want to consider joining the Collab. Once there is enough interest and participation in the Collab, then I'll look at setting a deadline.

Hope to hear from any interested participants.

*Edit: There is an official thread on the Audio Forum for this collab now, the link can be found here: https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1523147

My latest voice comedy titled Grandpa's Sales Pitch has been out for a few days now. I'll link it below.

It's another advert style piece but this time with the old man character trying to sell you his new products.

I did record another voice comedy but have been sitting on it for a few days now, wondering whether or not to release it as I feel it's a bit cringe and isn't my best work.

For those that may be unaware, I have uploaded some new tunes. I have uploaded 5 new short compositions with 2 of them being loops. I shall link them below. I recently got a new stereo microphone a Rode NT4 which has a natural and realistic sound without any colouration, so from now on I'll be exclusively recording in stereo which is great news. (Finally I know)

The first track is called Caravan of The Sand, which was recorded before I got my new stereo mic, so this one is still in mono unfortunately. But it is an Arabic oud inspired piece in an alternate tuning.

The second track is called Cloudy Day Dreaming, it was the first stereo recording that I made. It's an older composition that I composed a few years ago, but reworked it a bit and recorded it.

The third track is simply titled Motions, it's a simple tune that is played in a single hand position and features a second guitar overlaid at the start of the piece.

The fourth track is another short loop titled A Touch of Melancholy, which I improvised in an alternate tuning that I was playing around in. It was recorded in one take so some mistake may be present in the playing. I was in a rush to put some new music out.

The last track is a demo piece that I initially created for a Collab, but decided to make something else for said Collab and it's titled Soaring Among The Eagles, it's a rumba flamenco piece which features a rhythm guitar with lead guitar played over the top of it, it's the first actual two guitar piece that I've uploaded. It was uploaded the same day as this blog post too!
